Ginnie Update

Well, it has definitely been awhile since I have written. I have to say that I really enjoy reading about what everyone else is doing and so I hope we don't all stop writing.

Things at our house are starting to slow down. The kids just finished a month of tennis and swim lessons. They really enjoyed them and it kept us really structured and busy. It made for a great summer schedule. We now have three weeks left until school starts and I am sure I am going to start having to figure out how to fight their summer boredom. I need to get busy and think of some fun things to do to fill the rest of the summer.

Both Chase and Ciera have started soccer. Their first games are on Saturday. Travis is once again the coach of Chase's team. He really tried not to have to coach this year with the baby coming and all, but none of the other parents would volunteer.

Last week I took Ciera to her practice and her coach had a field set up. He divided the kids up into two teams (girls and boys) and then threw the ball in the air and said "Play!" Not one of the kids moved. I think he then realized that he was dealing with a bunch of five year olds that had never played and that he would have to give the game a little explanation. After talking to them he then threw the ball up again in the air and said, "Play!"
This time Ciera was the only one that took off. She ran right down and put the ball in the goal. She was jumping up and down while the rest of the team watched. After that they all started getting the hang of it. Ciera was thrilled to score a second goal. She is really quite aggressive and coordinated. We had to leave the practice early, but when we were leaving the score was girls 6, boys 0. On our way out I heard the coach say that he thought they ought to shuffle the teams up a little bit. The girls are definitely the more aggressive players on the team. Anyway, it has been fun to watch her play.

Cael is still our drama child. He loves to exaggerate everything. Travis thinks we should try and get him into modeling or acting because he is such a ham. He continues to be a huge mama's boy and so I think his adjustment to our new baby will be very interesting. It will probably be really good for him and me both. He is really into playing anything with a ball. He loves to run around and try to keep up with Chase and Ciera. He also has a favorite saying which is, "Yeah baby! Yeah baby!" I have no idea where he picked that up from!!!

Chase is still a really delightful seven year old. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky to have such a good kid. He really does try to be a good brother and a great helper to me. He has started teasing a little bit, but for the most part he is still great. He spends a lot of time reading and working in his school workbook. He loves to play Zoo Tycoon on the computer and is trying to convince me that it would be a great idea if Mom brought Ages of Empire with her when she comes in Sept. for the baby. So far I am not convinced!!

Travis, as always, is super busy. He just got back from a 4 day trip for the High Adventure with the scouts. They seemed to have a wonderful time.
Things are going well for him at the carwash. He always has more work that one person can possibly do, but he is an amazingly efficient person.

Me, well, I can't claim to do much other than trying to keep our house in order and keep everyone semi happy. On Friday I did go to my monthly scrapbooking night. I am surprised at how much I really like to do it. It is something I always really look forward to. Yesterday I treated myself to a pedicure. I figured after taking care of my kids all by myself while Travis was away I deserved it. It was fabulous. And today I taught a lesson in Relief Society on procrastination -- something that I am really good at.

I hope everyone is doing well. I hope Josh and John had wonderful birthdays. We miss everyone and hope to hear from all of you soon.

Summer Update 2007

Summer is winding down and it has gone by fast. Chase and Ciera have been in Tennis "camp" again this year and they are loving it. They are improving albeit slowly given our budgetary constraints for even more training. Ciera began soccer this week and Chase won't begin for another week or so because his coach (me) will be out of town next week on a high adventure camp with the young men of the ward. Cael keeps us cracking up, but I am afraid he is going to struggle when the baby comes since he is a big time Momma's boy. Ginnie is busy being a taxi (I guess that be interpreted a couple of ways) and keeping everyone happy. So it is a busy time for us as we count down to the baby coming, BYU football season and the new school starting up (no more 45 minute bus rides for poor Chase.) The Car washes (6 and counting) are doing well and we have had great summer weather here in Sac, so nothing too much to complain about. The news about Mike Coolbaugh sure puts things in perspective. Life is too short to not count blessings and enjoy every day.
